There have been some changes...

in the alignment of the small countries of Uropa.

His Grace the Duke of Pfalz-Kognat-Obersayn is diligently preparing his three single-battalion regiments of infantry, squadron of Kürassieren, two squadrons of Dragoner and artillery train (three batteries of battalion guns and two 6-pounder batteries) to march to the aid of the Empress.

The Empress will no doubt be pleased by the addition of the Duchy's might!

Of course, the Margrave of Brandenburg in his capacity as Elector may be less satisfied!

As I do the math, it seems that, when reference is made on this blog to "48-figure battalions," that means four twelve-figure divisions PLUS grenadiers and flag contingent, for a total of what BAR considers the "large battalion" of approximately 63 figures.

Am I correct in this conclusion?

I had painted up my battalions on BAR's "medium" model originally, but can certainly add the extra figures if I get started now.

Ummm....yes and no.

Bill and I agreed to have 48 figure battalions...total...for the purposes of this game and to try to standardize what could otherwise be a wild and woolly crowd.

Which works fine for my "legacy" units. My original 25mm SYW project includes two battalions plus grenadiers for each regiment, so effectively giving 48 musketeers (including command) and 12 grenadiers per regiment. So, for BAR, just combine the two smaller battalions and presto! 48 figures including command.

However, I have also been building the Brunswick/Hesse-Fedoran, Saxon, Homburg/Austrian armies to the BAR "big" size. For Millennium I was planning on downsizing these to 48 to be standard. However, a couple of my units (British) will be smaller.

Some of the units sent to me are smaller, and a few are slightly larger, hence the discrepancies.

That said: do what YOU want. Especially since you are "Imperial" and it looks like they need all the help they can get!

Bump's brigade will be sans the squadron of Hussars, but will have a converged Grenadier battalion in addition to the two battalions of musketeers.

Chris,

Thanks for the update.

I have heard that Steve Smith and Clay are bringing equal numbers of Prussian and French troops.
this will not lessen the numerical differences, but will decrease the percentage gap between the forces.
Are the folks from Chicago definitely out?

Chris - I have had to drop out due to some personal reasons and health issues, but the last that I heard, and Ed can correct me if I'm wrong, both Bill Protz and Der Alte Fritz were planning on attending. However, they will be traveling "light" and will probably only bring their personal Guard contingents with them and maybe 1 or 2 additional units. I have also heard that Steve Miller and Clay Smith will be in attendance but I don't know that Ed has gotten any actual troop committments from them.

Sadly, Herr Alte cannot attend. Bill P. is a "maybe" at this point.

Bill,
I heard of your need to drop out. I hope that all improves soon.
sorry for the dislexia with Steve and Clay's last name.

Too bad about Bill and Jim. I was hoping that they might make it.

Again, I hope that things improve for you Ed.

And again I am confusing names.
Bill, I hope that things improve for you soon and both you and Ed, please forgive my lack of attention to detail.
Sorry.

Ed,

I will be sending you a new Excel file with my troop units. Since it appears that the Empire might need some help, I will endeavor to adjust my painting priorities so that I'll have fairly balanced forces to bring.

Thanks to everyone.

I was going to bend my (pitiful) painting skills to fielding the Landgrafin's Fusiliers, but I think I will attempt a Homburg unit instead to help out the Imperial cause.
